R.M. Williams opened its global brand flagship store in the heart of Sydney. The space elevates the customer experience, blending heritage, craftsmanship and innovation.
As the brand has been part of the George Street retail scene since 1987, the concept celebrates the city’s heritage with native animals and the iconic Opera House. We partnered with the Australian illustrator Clemens Habicht to bring the space to life, presenting a window installation filled with storytelling, with bespoke steps to hero the products under the artistic animations. Eye-catching frames and refined fixtures continue the journey inside the store. The boot education wall uncovers the craftsmanship behind each part of their iconic shoes, revealing the brand’s local artistry.
Whenever Clemens returns home to Sydney, he is astounded by the bird life and how they infuse the city sky with vitality every day. Using the digital screen as a window through the sky scene, cockatoos arrive and perch on the edge – roughly human in scale, they quizzically look out at the passing foot traffic, as well as at the objects on show in the display. In the far distance, abundant flocks fly behind the iconic sails of the Opera House against a brilliantly changing colour sky.
