Charlestown Square wanted a Christmas that felt unmistakably local: full of colour, character and charm. We brought that vision to life with Charlie’s Christmas Carnival, a vibrant world that invites families to step into the joy, not just watch it unfold.
Our Approach
Carnivals are built for interaction: photo moments, movement, discovery and surprise. This creative direction meant every touchpoint could be active, not passive, aligning with GPT’s ambition to lead with experience first, not decoration. High-gloss finishes, rich textures and bold geometric forms set the visual tone, while festoon lighting stitched the precinct together with warmth and atmosphere.
Every touchpoint was designed to feel theatrical yet true to the Hunter. Oversized structures, illuminated elements, playful characters and modular tree clusters layered rhythm and colour. Our solution balances visual impact with practical smarts: future-ready and aligned with GPT’s commercial and sustainability goals.
The Result
The final experience unfolds like a day at the carnival, full of ‘surprise and delight’ moments families can make their own.
At the heart of it all, Santa’s Spectacular delivers the headline act. Families weave through Selfie moments, Spinning Nutcrackers, Silly Mirrors, and interactive zones before reaching Santa’s stage. It’s theatrical, surprising and crafted from robust, modular components designed to last.
This is more than festive décor: it’s movement, interaction and emotion. A retail experience that encourages families to stay, explore and return. A celebration that captures the proud, playful spirit of the Hunter while delivering a commercially smart, future-proof solution for GPT. Charlie’s Christmas Carnival transforms Charlestown Square into the heartbeat of Christmas in the Hunter, colourful, immersive and made to be remembered.
