Crafted to elevate R.M.Williams Bondi’s retail experience, these modular plinths are more than just display stands, they’re sculptural pieces in their own right. Inspired by the textures of the Australian coastline, the salty spray of the ocean and the softness of the sand, each piece carries a sense of place, reinterpreted through the rugged elegance of the R.M.Williams lens. Their modular design allows for maximum flexibility, adapting with ease while staying rooted in the story.
Here’s a closer look at the incredible materials and craftsmanship behind each finish:
Reclaimed Timber Blocks by Woodpatch
• 60-70 hours of handcrafting spotted gum logs rescued from Sydney arborists.
• 498kg blocks of Spotted Gum were milled, hand-routed, sanded smooth, and finished with clear linseed oil for a warm, natural glow.
Kangaroo Leather Sleeve Blocks by Cleon Design
• One week of expert craftsmanship went into cutting and stitching kangaroo leather hides, sourced directly from the R.M.Williams Adelaide workshop, and carefully gluing them onto MDF blocks to create a sleek, tactile finish.
Rendered Blocks by A Southerly Change Trading
• 1 week of hand-applied Tasmanian natural white clay plaster, sustainably sourced from Victoria & Tasmania.
• The production of the finalised product relies entirely on solar power with no water consumed at all.
Applied Metal Blocks by Axolotl
• 1 week to achieve the copper verdigris patina, a stunning bluish-green aesthetic that would normally take decades to develop naturally.
• Axolotl’s artisans replicate this weathered metal beauty in days, turning MDF boxes into timeless, textured artworks.
Amazing work from all makers in bringing these plinths to life. A functional, flexible, and full-of-character element for R.M.Williams Bondi’s new store.
